through the collaborative efforts of the various agencies involved
in the legal process regarding juveniles accused of a sexual
offense.
When a child has been
charged with a sexual offense, there are usually many questions that
arise. The following information may be helpful as you address these
issues.
Please be aware this has
been developed in Hillsborough County, Florida. The laws and legal
processes may be different in other areas.

FREQUENTLY USED TERMS
Any person who knows or has
reasonable cause to suspect that a child is abused, abandoned or
neglected by a parent, legal custodian, caregiver, or other person
responsible for the child's welfare shall report such knowledge or
suspicion to the Department of Children and Families. (FS 39.201)
